** Ron Miller has done some lengthy research into the production of 1917. He has concluded there was an error in recording the serial numbers from that year.It seems it was as simple as a slip of the pencil. Deciphering between a “2” and a “7” on the first digit. He has a lot of info to back this up. For one thing there is not one surviving model “E” with a number between 2997 and 7997 meaning a difference of 5,000 model “E” produced. Ron also believes it would have been nearly impossible for the Rumely Co to produce that many “E’s” along with their other production. An article was published in the Rumely Collectors News with further information.
